I have option to buy SONY STR-VA55ES at extremly good price, and I am wondering to change my current SONY STR-DA50ES.
    But I have 2 questions.
Should I wait for the new model 5000ES?
Is tehre a way to connect pair of rear back speakers instread of only one center back, using only 555ES?

    Thanks.

You could just run two speakers from the one channel on the amp, the power output will obviously be cut but if you use speakers with high sensitivity you should get away with it-but obviously its not perfect. Whats an extremely good price? Even when the new model comes out you will almost certainly be able to get it at way below retail so it might be worth waiting for.

You can connect pair speakers to one chanel, but you will have impendance problems, and how can you match the level of all for surround speakers?

About new models, I must agree with all of yuo that they are ugly, very ugly.

The VA555ES does support 7.1 output but not onboard. You will need to run two of the preouts to a seperate stereo amp for 7.1

They were going for £600 at www.robertwhyteltd.co.uk a few months back.

Looks like they have gone upto £699 at that particular site now though.

As a STRVA555ES expert, I hope you may be able to help answer a question I have.

I run a Sony DVPNS999ES through my STRVA555ES to 10 Sony Tan55ES power amps (yes, I know its excessive - but the sound is sublime). I was using an old sony CRT widescreen TV for visuals, but this recently gave up the ghost, and was promptly replaced by the new 40 inch Sony Bravia W series LCD.

Here is where the problems begin - while sound and vision were perfectly synchronised with the old TV, the image on the new LCD lags slightly behind the sound through the STRVA555ES - very annoying to watch!

Is there some way I can slow the STRVA555ES output down a fraction to re-synch sound & vision?

    Any assistence greatly received,
    All the Best,
    John
