(sorry if this is redundant)
My receiver, the STR-V444ES has two digital coaxial inputs (DVD and CD) and 4 optical inputs (two of which are DVD and TV/SAT). The PS2 has only an optical output and my digital cable box has only a coaxial digital output.
I swapped the PS2 to the TV/SAT inputs (so I can use the digital coax input for the cable receiver), but the receiver doesn't detect an optical signal from the PS2. It only works if the optical cable (and other RCA cables) are plugged into the DVD inputs. Is this normal? Shouldn't the PS2 optical out work using the TV/SAT optical input?
In neither instance however, am I able to see a successful digital audio connection from the cable box to the receiver. Help!
