There's an owners thread on here. A more active one on the AVS site. 315 is a super price.

Sorry thought you were referring to the 1040, too much vino last night....

That would explain the low price. You do hear less about the 840 than the 1040. I believe it doesn't have the updated interface. Here is a review from a well thought of site which you can translate in google.

    TEST: Sony 7.2 AV-Receiver STR-DN840 (12.06.2013)

    Great price.

It seems that many people prefer the 1040 more than the 840 for its interface and also there seems to be quite a lot more information as someone has already mentioned, even though the 840 is considerably cheaper.

It will be great to hear your experiences with the receiver and maybe more people would buy it and also it would help people make an informed decision if they don't want to spend £500 for the 1040.

I have an 840. 5 months old just and it has had a power failure. Green light and nothing happening.

    Not impressed

Had my 840 for a couple of months, more than happy with it, despite the basic interface. Although once it's setup, I guess you don't really use the interface so what the hey! Never could find the owners thread on here, my forum search skills must be lacking ;-)

Could somebody tell me if this player (the 840) upscales to 1080p?

    Cheers.
