I bought one of these http://www.audioreview.com/cat/amplification/a-v-receivers/sony/PRD_126720_2718crx.aspx a few years ago, admittedly not having a clue what I was buying. I've used it for Dvds only and found the sound to be very good.

I'm awaiting delivery of my new plasma and I got thinking about this receiver. I know practically nothing about it and as a bit of a noob when it comes to the In's and outs of these things, I'm wondering is it a good one and what else can it do.

It also Say's on the front "Digital Audio/Video control center", I understand the audio part but what does the video part mean and what does it do?

Any opinions are appreciated

Thanks.

Fred.

Your amp will switch a video signal along with the sound. For example, my Denon amp will switch my DVD, Laser Disc, Cable box and VCR video signals to my projector, while routing the appropiate sound to the speakers. Just connect your TV via the video out to take advantage of the feature.
