    So??...

How much of a lemon is it?? :suicide: :D

Be as brutal as you want, is it :smashin: , or :thumbsdow

It was powerful thats all I really wanted. And at 110w/ channel 8ohm, it seemed decent enough.

I only want it for a decent stereo setup for now (B+W 601 S3s I hope, if its up to the job, if I took it to my local SuperFi would they let me listen to the speakers through my amp??)

    Thanks for any input

Good solid buy for £100 as an AV amp. Some of them had problems with hiss but I owned one for several years and always enjoyed it. However, for hifi use I think you could do better for your money but try it against a budget rotel/nad/marantz amp when you go for a demo (Superfi should be fine with you taking your amp in).

You bagged a bargain there! I just sold my Sony 930 for 160 quid, and the 940 is the newer model. The 930 was superb and very very powerful.

Thanks for the honest opinions guys.

I'll take it down to Superfi and see what I make of it... :) I just hope its got enough grunt to get some loudness from the 601s. And I hope it isnt outperformed to much by the budget rotel/nad/marantz (although, even the budget amps cost £150+)

Also what causes the hissing? Can it be repaired if it hisses? Would this be expensive?

And the only thing I see me using the remote for is volume, so that shouldnt be much of an issue.

I have had one of these amps for years and I have never once heard any hissing, so hopefully yours will be 100% OK.

    Good luck with the tests!

Paid a lot more than that for mine a few years ago.It has been trouble free and I was very happy with it. Certainly no hissing problem with mine. Just been damaged though and beyond repair so I am now looking for a suitable upgrade replacement.

    Ok,

I got it on Sat and its is huge!! And pretty heavy. And that remote is is a bit weird!! But it has a little screen which impressed the lads :rotfl: anyway...

hooked it upto my dads old Aiwa hifi speakers, and it souned great, I couldnt hear any 'hissing' and the AMP was more than enough for the speakers can't remember the the specs of them), so the B+Ws should sound fine with it.

I think i'll take it to SuperFi next monday.

    Thanks
