Sony STR-DB930 and PS3 help with setup

Hi bought a Sony STR-DB930 to connect to my ps3 using a optical cable , im sure im doing something wrong with the setup as i can only get 2 channels working , or with bluray playback the audio is practically non existent , ive tried different options on the ps3 but its going way over my head

Sorry if this is teaching you to suck eggs. But have you set the amp up correctly (I presume its 2nd hand based on its age so the previous owner could have had it setup for just stereo speakers) and you have confirmed all 5.1 speakers are functioning (using the test tones for example)

Yeah everythings set right , speaker test tones are ok , i think its the blu ray discs that are the problem i.e the sound setup of the disc .
