    DB790 owners look away now...

The new DB795 (according to new What HiFi) features on-board DAB (as well as RDS), 7.1 connectivity and ProLogicIIx, as well as composite video to S-video up conversion.

    Dagnabbit.... :(

I saw that and it looks pretty tempting, especially at the rrp of £300...

Anyone know when it's coming out? I just had a look at some internet sites but none had it listed as yet.

I would have one of these because of the DAB. But there's one problem; there's no pre-out so I can't use my Hi-Fi amp to drive my front speakers as I do at the moment.

Let's hope they are upgrading the whole range with DAB, 7.1 etc.

There is no DAB. WHF admitted getting a bit over zealous whilst awarding the Sony first in test in the October 2004 issue page 45. The lack of accredited DAB logo on the front last month had me wondering.

They (WHF) have apologised for their mistake in this month's issue. How annoying though...and quite lax too.

Seems to me however that the amp manufacturers are missing a trick by not putting in DAB tuners yet. First one to do it on a half decent product will surely sell loads?

Only in the UK. To sell in Europe, the unit would need to be DAB/FM with the attendant ramp up in complexity for aerials, control software and internal space consumption. There are one or two modules that might be up to the job but I suggest you go and ask Mr Dawson nicely as I think Arcam have one of them :).
