For all of you eagerly waiting to get your hand on the STR-DB1080 replacement, the 2000 - you'll gonna have to wait a bit longer !!!!!

We (HiFiBitZ) are still awaiting delivery of these items from Sony. Sony are have a few problems sourcing this product to the UK and they are now quoting us September for our order of this highly reccommended product.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

It's just a little inconvenient as I've had an outstanding order since the beginning of MARCH!!

What are the Yammy's like for around £400?!

Damn! I don't think I can tolerate my buzzing 1080 much more!

I'm seriously contemplating about alternative receivers/amplifiers now. Does anyone have any recommendations in the same price range? Maybe another Sony model or a Yamaha or even Denon - with the same or better specs to the 1080 of course.

neilos70, If you can get your hands on a 1080 for a good deal then IMO its worth it.

While my one was working properly I enjoyed it greatly. For movies it was great and music was good too. I used it for DPLII for my gamecube and PS2 too which was also good. I also thought the remote control was cool even though it wasn't a learning one.

If you do get it, you've just got to hope its not one of those faulty buzzing ones that I and some other people have had problems with!
