    Hi

What do you all think of the Sony STR-DB1070?

    I have read mixed reviews

Also what is the cheapest you can buy them for?

    Many thanks

Cheapest i've seen is £299 from Richer Sounds, bare in mind that isn't a UK spec model (most likely european spec) but I dont think it makes a lot of difference. There's a STR-DB1080 coming out very soon that will support DPLII and have more features, but I recon it'll be £399-£499 when it first comes out (at the Sony Center). I've not listened to either so I cant pass comment.

The forum search facility is quite useful as there must be hundreds of posts on this model.

As Ian J says - there are plenty of past threads on this amp - I spent about a week trawling through most of them when I was looking to buy...!!! ;)

Make sure you listen to the 1070 before you buy one - it seems to be a bit of an "acquired" taste - read the threads and you'll see what I mean. Chuffed to bits with mine :)
