I have recently added a sub to my setup. It is connected via a single phone cable to my Sony 930.

When adjusting the EQ setting for the front/centre/rear bass frequencies, it only goes down to 100Hz. I was expecting it to allow a lower value in order to properly blend with the sub.

Is this right, or is this just a Sony thing, or am I fiddling with the wrong settings?

    Mike.

I have never bothered with the equalisation settings but you should be looking at the crossover settings in the setup menu if you want to adjust the cut off point of the sub

    The setup menu only contains:-

    Front Speaker Size
    Center Speaker Size
    Rear Speaker Size
    Rear Speaker Position
    Rear Speaker Height
    Sub Woofer selection (Y/N)
    Front Speaker Distance
    Center Speaker Distance
    Rear Speaker Distance
    Distance Unit

It doesn't have anything to set crossover.

The only other menu which refers to the sub is the "level", which has :-

Sub woofer level in dB steps from -10Db to +10Db
LFE mix level -20dB to 0db

    Mike,

My first Sony experience is the 1070 which I have now and that has cut off levels for all speakers in the set up menu in addition to the ones that you mentioned.

Without variable crossovers you cannot do anything about the main speakers but depending on the make of sub you may be able to adjust that if you are not happy with the overall blending.

I have the SONY 940 - and you get a crossover menu when you set the speakers to SMALL.

Its listed as SP < 80Hz - or something like that.

    Thanks guys,

I have set all speakers to small but still no crossover menu. Perhaps the 930 just doesn't have it?

I suppose I can try using the Neutrik connection instead of the phono and control the crossover at the sub.

I am puzzled why why my 930 doesn't have it though.

any speakers that are set to small will send frequencies below 80 Hz. to the sub.
