    Please help!

I am new to this site and need all of your expert help with the following issue. I am looking to either buy the relatively new Sony Amp STR-2400ES or Onkyo 805 and have the following things that I would like to connect to it. My head is however a mess with what to connect where with only having ONE HDMI in my V series Sony TV.

I have a PS3 and SKY HD and possibly buying a dedicated Blu ray player.

Is it as simple as connecting the HDMI cables from the PS3, Sky HD to the HDMI inputs on the AMP and then then a HDMI out on the AMP to the TV in order to get the video and sound?

Yes thats it, apart from SkyHD which would also require a optical (or coax) connection for 5.1 as its only stereo over HDMI.

Many thans for your help. I take it the rest would happily project the sound via the HDMI and not need a separate cox cable etc if I were to want the bes sound from a dedicated bluray player when purchased and/or my PS3 sound?

yes . But i believe the sky HD will need an optical cable to the AMP as well as the Box only outputs stereo via HDMI for some mad reason.

Yes bluray players and PS3 will output audio over HDMI. HD audio is only availble over HDMI (unless your player has dedicated analogue preouts). Optical or Coax will not carry these Soundtracks.

the above is exactly right, but yes otherwise you are correct, you'll simply need to use your amp as a hdmi switcher
