If you can afford it, Yes.
I've read one or two threads here & elsewhere on the web who've done this upgrade & been well pleased in doing so.
I've upgraded from a 940 to a 7.1 Pioneer receiver earlier this year (I would have got a Denon, but I got a better deal on the Pioneer)
I did have a 930 but it went wrong twice so I cut my losses & got the 940, which suited my needs until I wanted to have DD-EX DTS-ES PLII in my system etc.

I went through this upgrade a while ago, mainly because I thought the sony was a bit bright with music.I was also desperate to hear 6.1 :D

One thing I did miss was the Sony,s eq and the vast amount of DSP , which every so often enhanced a few movies.

I did find the Denon more enjoyable with music IMO.

At the price you would get one now for, it,s a bit of a bargain.
