after a fortnite of trawling forums[ to no avail] and even asking forum members for help[to no avail again] i had to get the focus ring on my vplw400 to budge! it locked solid! after much thought..i bit the bullet and thought if i give it a good twist i might get lucky!...and guess what it worked...so the question is how did it seize up in the first place?

These things usually seize through a lack of lubrication and the presence of moisture or grit. Maybe some water was accidently spilt onto it and was wiped away, but some got down into the thread of the focus ring and caused rust to form, which then caused it to seize.
If a little oil is out of the question, then try and keep the pj covered when not in use to avoid moisture getting back in. :smashin:
