    Hi all,

I've got a Sony Sky (not sky+) digi box with an optical out.

I've hooked this upto my Yamaha Amp (HTIB-45 set up) - so why am i not getting 5.1 in Movies which state at the beginning of the movie they are being broadcast in 5.1 DS ?

Am i doing something wrong - played with the settings on Sky and no joy.

Only Sky+ will pick up the relevant digital audio stream and pass it through the optical output. Sony's optical out was always outside the spec laid down by Sky (ditto for Grundig's s-video output) and Sky were under no obligation to allow 5.1 for Sony VTX-750 and 760 boxes - though perfectly technically possible. I guess other manufacturers would have cried foul in not being allowed to put digital audio on their own boxes.

    Mike.
