    hi

im pretty certain this is the player i want to get but i just have a couple of questions,

is this player profile 2.0 out of the box , or is there an update available for profile 2.0?

    also

i have a ps3 , would i see an advantage in picture and all round performance if i got the s350?

    thanks

    Hi gunner84. :)
It may already be on new firmware so will be profile 2.0 otherwise it's a quick update to get it.
    All the best.

i just checked a cnet review and he mentioned something about usb storage on the back of the player would i need to do that if i was to update, as he says you need a very slim usb device as standard ones dont fit??

    cheers

You can connect straight to your internet source or download firmware from web and burn to cd and load via the disc, i did the disc version and worked fine.

Or you can store it to usb stick and load via that as mentioned

You need the extra memory for BD Live content yes :) plus of course player connected to the net.
If the player is "not" profile 2.0 then you'll need to update the players firmware, connect via ethernet to download or download from Sonys site and burn to CD....spin disc in player to update.

thats good then because i dont really use the bd live features , just one last thing , do you think i would see an all round advantage from my ps3 bluray to a standalone ?

im still getting a standalone for downstairs living room.

    cheers:)

Standard USB memory sticks works fine on my machine, it just sticks out a bit on the back. I have tried 3 different ones.

Make sure you format the memory as FAT, mine was formatted as NTFS and the S350 could not see it.

i wonder how good the picture will be on my panny 37"pv500 plasma with the s350 , i was thinking about getting a new tv set but i cant get anything bigger than a 37" anyway because of room , but i think the pv500 has a quality picture to rival a lot of new sets still????

Biggest improvement for me on this player compared to PS3 is the sound via bitstream.

Shame the PS3 cannot send audio via bitstream.
