And it works with the NW-HD1 ;) you can also you the 'Original' remote that comes with the NW-HD1 which is in Japan, the model number is RM-MC35ELK I ersonally prefer this one as it looks nicer and is cheaper!! I got mine for £28!! on ebay!!

The 40ELK gives you the option of the truly wonderful Jog Roller and full display.

If can stretch to it, go for it over the 35.

i bought the 35elk and it's just perfect! nice animated display with "bigger" letters than the 40 has and it's slim, what for me is a big difference on remotes.

but they both work just perfectly on the hd3 and hd1!

Yes if you like the stick format the 35 might be better then, but the 40 is very good indeed.

are there any other options for the nw-hd3 for remotes? i really want one but cant afford £50+ for one! why the hell didnt sony include one anyway. i have to say i have no repect for sonys marketing boys now, first they make an mp3 jukebox that cant play mp3, then when they finaly get one that can play mp3s they dont put a remote with it and create the worst piece of software every created by anyone, ever, to put tracks onto it. i seriously think they all must have had their common sense surgicaly removed!

and you know what REALLY annoys me? i have an ej2000 the cd placyer in the background of this pic its meant to come with the 35 but no the one i got had a rm-mc32el no idea why but it wont work with my nw-hd3 which is great

still despite all that the nw-hd3 is still great

and it definatly works with the hd3, has anyone tried it. I know it should do but im pretty strapped for cash and dont want to fork out £40 or so on something only to find i cant use it.

also what exactly does the jogwheel on the 40elk do? is it track skip? if it is its the same as the 35elk so why is it so much more expensive?

The 40 is the better remote. It has a bigger display and it can control menus like the customised sound settings.

The Jog Roller is a god send cos once you get into the song menus, you can spin and scroll all your tunes and push it to get a going or album playing. Very much like Sony Jog Dials in general.

If you prefer the stick look the 35 is better but for functionality and display it is the 40 hands down :smashin:

Either way the HD with a remote makes for a very nice combo.

that sounds really good, is it worth £30 more though, plus i hate the way the 40elk looks, its huge and looks more like a player and a remote. ill probably go for the 35, i can always change setting with the player itself, i dont change them ofen enough to need it on the remote but its really the price thats the killer for me. im sure the 40 is better but im gonna go for the 35 i think. one final question before i go and buy one, how do you navigate the menus using the 35, do you use the jog thingy on the end? or the little switch kinnda thing that you use to skip tracks and play em? its hard to eplain what exact parts of the remote i mean but if you have one im sure you will get what i mean.

I think you can get it for around £45-50.

Personally I don't like the stick style. Had a MC11 (same form as the 35) which can be a bit fiddly to use. Twist push and pull whilst it's clipped to your lapel is not the easiest to manouevre.

.....and it doesn't have the roller ;)

i couldnt find it that cheap on ebay, where did you find it for that price?

i dont have too much trouble with the stick format tbh. i have a cd remote almost exactly the same and always loved it, perhaps it wont be so good for an mp3 player with more controls though

    Hi,

For those of you who got the RM-MC35ELK as I just did, did you find a way to browse albums/artists etc as the player lets you do with its own controls?

BTW, I also got it by ebay seller keykey2006 and it's a very good and fast ebay seller

    hum, spoke too quickly...

Shipping was fast, but the product is far from what were described on ebay. Instead of beeing "a new and rarely used " remote, I discovered that one button didn't work. I opened it carefully and to my surprise, the remote had been repaired very badly, with bulk solder points, glue and so on...

Better stay away from keykey2006 remotes

    Hope that helps

BTW, I've managed to play a little with the remote, and I don't think this thing is the most easy to use piece of hardware... The screen is in fact very small, and from what I've understood, it's very difficult to browse the music library (just album +/- buttons, with no display). I think RM-MC40ELK is better (jog shuttle and 3 lines screen)

Sorry to hear that d raux. Can you not send it back ?

The 40 is far far better, in fact it's the best remote for it. The only reason I can see people going for the 35 is for it's form factor as it is clearly not designed to take fuller advantage of the HD menus. Either that or you got one in the box if you bought it Japanese !

I've been talking with the seller this morning and he seems pretty annoyed of what happened. It seems he gets his products from a supplier that did not tell him of the history of products.

    I'll get a refund I hope, I'll let you know :)

BTW, I think I'd go the the 40

    have a good day

Thats interesting....did they give an idea of a model number or when the remote would be out?

The RM-MC40ELK does do everything needed for playback, the only things you can't do, you wouldn't really want to do from the remote, ie initialize etc.

I kinda goofed up and bought two on Ebay... you know how it is when you're bidding on things...

Anyway, I seem to have an extra 40ELK remote going spare if anyone's interested. THought I'd give you guys first refusal before i put it back on Ebay.

All I'm looking for is my money back, so £41 all in will score you the 40ELK. It's brand new, and still in the packaging it was sent in.

Please lemme know me if interested.
