    Which one did you get?

    Did you extend the warranty?

    Any problems so far?

I had the A2000 set which I returned as unfortunately it was to large for our living room(really best if you can house it in a corner). Also found sse a bit much on white colours but could have been because too near the set etc.Suggest you maybe read the owners threads on these set for the good/bad points as it was a hell of a bugger repackaging it all if your not happy with it!.

Try and also get along to a sony centre to see one in the flesh.

I have just bought one (42") and I am very pleased with my purchase.
It does come with the stand so I thought it was a bit of a bargain.
One concern I did have was bulb life but now I have bought the TV we use it around probably 8 - 10 hours a day,so I don't really worry about and will just have to see how long it lasts.
I haven't seen any HD content on it yet other than the Xbox 360 (which looks great) so I can't really coment on how good it is,but the display is certainly sharper and brighter than my Sony CRT rear projection set.

ive been tempted by one of these as well, so if you've got any pics of it in action (ill have a 360 connected up to it as well, among other things) that would be fantastic!

there isnt too much about on this set, but am i right in thinking it will be identical to the 50inch version in terms of performance?

would anyone know if ill be disappointed going from a smaller lcd to this?

I got one from PRC direct yesterday (for £600).

Really pleased with it so far, picture seems much better than plasma or LCD to me.

I am also looking at the 42" version. What is the bulb life on these tv's? And how much does a new bulb cost?

I think that the bulb for the 50" one costs £199 from Sony Centre so the one for 42" would be similar I guess.

    Hi
Sorry for the late reply,I havn't had much time to check back on this forum.
The stand in the photo's is the stand that came with the TV and on the invoice it was sold out at 1p!
I too noticed that there was no mention of a stand on the Comet website, but when I went to my local branch they said it was included and so I ordered it from there.
I would recommend going to your local Comet store and buying it from there.
Here's some pics with the Xbox, sorry for the crap photo's.

I picked up the 42" version from Comet at the weekend as the 50" version would have been a bit big for my living room. I had to pay 1p for the stand!!! So thought It was a pretty good deal for £699.99 + 1p for the stand making it £700. PRC have it for £599 but pick up only (Meaning I'd have to spend £40 on petrol to pick it up) and I could not get through on the phone to see if that price was including the stand. Next cheapest place was web electricals at £667 delivered, but again tried for ages see if it came with a stand and no one would pick up the phone :nono:

Anyway I've only had a little play with my ps2 via component and tosh 360e dvd via hdmi with the TV on the floor, with the factory settings... but WOW, i'm really glad wih my purchase!

Starwars 3 looks great and I've not even messed with the settings yet, also the tv is not set in it's optimum viewing postition either. PS2 via componet - looks really nice also. With pro evolution soccer 6 really sharp and clean.

Yet to try the digital tuner yet.

I spent a long time on the phone to Comet Customer Services (I think using the word 'services' is stretching it a bit) about whether the 42 comes with a stand or not. They couldn't help other than to say that the website indicates not. They advised to ring my local Comet store who would be able to contact the warehouse to find out. This I did to be told that yes the stand does get sent out with the TV. So on this basis, I ordered the TV. However, I sent an email to customer services advising them of what I'd been told and asking them to confirm that it was true. They replied saying my order did not have a stand going out with it but that I could specify a stand at extra cost. To cut a long story short, I've cancelled my order. As far as I'm concerned Comet staff are a bunch of useless half-wits and I won't be darkening their door again.

The product numbers on Sony Tv's actually tell you if there is a stand or not, but you have to know what they mean. The last letters are the stand description. It is hard to find the information about them on the internet. I have asked sony to send me some information.

Example... ATNS is a stand of some sort.

The only information I could get from Sony is that...

    U = United Kingdom version
    S = Stand

So those are what to look for at the end of the model number.

i asked the sales person to confirm that the stand was included and she phoned the warehouse who confirmed it was.
I was still not convinced so I insisted on collecting it from the store just incase the stand was not with it.If the stand hadn't turned up I would've cancelled my order.

Has your TV arrived yet and if so did it come supplied with the stand?
If it did come supplied with the stand are you able to return to the other for a refund?

I WILL be getting a refund on the stand if it comes with one(even tho I like the one I bought).
Mine is not coming until the 19th as not paying for delivery allowed me to get the stand and a component switch box

I rec'd this TV just before Christmas, from Comet online. I did get the stand, and I didn't even pay a penny for it!!!

The TV is great, I'm very pleased with the screen. I use a Liteon upscale DVD recorder (VERY cheap @£99 from Curries, but great quality) with the supplied (with the DVD not the TV) HDMI cable (i.e. cheap cable) and the quality of DVD playback is stunning @ 720p; not so great @ 1080i.

Built in Freeview is great for me, rich colours and very stable. Wii console looks great as well.

    Very Happy.

I got the 42, it just fits in the space that i have and looks ideal for a room of this size.

Next on the plan is a sound system, thinking about the yamaha ysp speaker, I hate cables....

No idea what I am going to do with the stand btw, I don't use it. Thought about ebaying it but the postage is crazy for such a large and heavy box.

Picture Settings....The main things to do are to turn the Noise Reduction off, the iris to low or off.

    Contrast 60-72
    Brightness 60
    Sharpness 22

    Colour.. wherever you prefer.
