Yep - has been in New Zealand for over 1 month @ NZ$1495 retail.

    Improvements over HX900:
    - Has a 250 Gig hard drive.
    - Can 'split' a HDD recording.
    - Has 30 item timer (instead of 8)

Selling like hotcakes - It is beautiful.

910 can make playlists on HDD. It also has additional 2.5h and 8h recording modes. By the way - you can find user's manual of this model at support section of UK Sony web site.

You mean Sony are selling it region-free? I find that hard to believe.

I have 910 for a 3-4 months now. It is a big improvment over 900.
AFAK in UK the 910 model will be with digital tuner.

Maybe New Zealand gets the same models as they sell in Australia where region coding is illegal.

I swear to god, my NZ Sony HX910 is out-of-the-box region free! I was asked on another forum by a guy in Australia who was thinking of importing from NZ. On the box it has the "R4" logo but I slipped a R1 disc in to see what it would say. It played! Same with a R2 disc I bought in London!!! I **** you not. Never heard about region coding being illegal in Aussie though??

Hey - all DVD players in NZ and Aussie MUST NOT be region coded BY LAW! Sweet...

    See this link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regional_lockout

    Down near the bottom....

"Some countries' laws consider regional lockout to constitute unfair restraint of trade; all DVD players sold in those countries must be region free."

Cool. You'd think they'd be doing a roaring trade in flogging them overseas too.

I noticed PixMania.com are selling both the 710 and the 910 (i'd post a link but not sure of the policy on the board)

Obviously not UK stock then, is it worth waituing another 6-8 weeks for the UK versions, I had settled for the 510 but wanted a Pioneer 530 originally which has 160 Gb so was relecutant to go with the 510 and its 80gb, so after looking at the Pixmania website I noticed the 710 (160gb) and the 910 (250gb)

At £354 it seems very reasonable, anyone bought one of these from PixMania ?? Which country did they come from??

Pixmania is French located. They sell to almost all European countries. Because they sell from France, as I know, some of devices may have French manual only (eg. Sony DVD Recorders).
