Hi there everyone,

I called in at my local Sony store (Mansfield) this morning and the good news was that they have the HX-910 listed on their system.

He told me they will be getting a batch of 35 during the last week of this month and would be priced at £699.00.

The bad news was all 35 were already pre-ordered. :(

Still no news of the HX1010 though.

OnLine sites are advertising this at £100 less and multiregion.

Yep, ordered my HXD910 for £599 MR complete with 25 free DVD-R discs and delivery from LE Concepts.

Excellent news. That's more than my local Sony Centre could tell me.
Let's hope that we see some decent pricing now.
My best price locally is £599.99 from Telew*rld shop (www.comworld.co.uk).
I'm also looking forward to the 1010 price.

Having spent the last year or so waiting for a machine with HDD DVDR Freeview I thought all was well when I saw this machine. But having seen how a friends Freeview falls apart when the weather is poor I am thinking I need an analogue backup. I have downloaded and read the manual I can't seem to discover if this machine has both Digital and analogue tuners - I am told some do - but cannot discover which.

If not the Sony any ideas as to who might be able to offer me this analogue fallback. As I need to buy an LCD telly to exploit the HDMI capability (or is progressive component a better idea?) is there a fantastic 32" LCD with digital and analogue tuners to remove my analogue backup facility in to the telly.

Apologies if these are very newbie questions, but I am indeed a newbie

Cheers

Hi Simon,

I have a Panny DMRES20D and an old on-digital Freeview box taking the feed from the same aerial. The old box is a nightmare (esp after 10:00 pm) with juddering, freezing and pixellation.

I put both tuners on PAP (Picture and Picture) in my Plasma and could not believe how much things have improved. The overall picture quality didn't seem hugely different, but in terms of stability and reliability.....things have changed a huge amount.

The only thing that stops me changing the Freeview box is the fact that I am gradually wearing down Mrs Tet on the SKY front where I hope eventually to get a SKY+ box.

Regards

Tet

Simon,

The Sony HXD910 only has a Freeview tuner - no analogue at all.

The Samsung LE32R41BD seems very popular - check out the many threads about it on the LCD forum. Good luck!

Needed for glitch-free Freeview reception - a good high-gain outside aerial mounted high up and specific for your area, fed with double screened co-ax. You may find this sorts you out fine.

Have any of you Sony fans considered the Panasonic EH60D?

This has a digital and an analogue tuner
