Can I bung any modern HDD in this machine??
I haven't tried, but I have heard that on some machines, even if you manage to add a drive and reformat, the OS will only recognise 160GB (the size of the original).
So adding a new drive to get more size might not be worth it, but replacing a broken one might.
You might be lucky and be able to fit a 250 GB drive in because the Sony HX-1000 is identical to the HX-900 except for the HDD size. On the other hand, take heed of the warning from jamils for the OS might be tailor made for the size of the HDD.
Sorry I can't help you any further on this subject, but I did think it was strange that the HX-1000 costs about £200 more than the HX-900 but the cost of a 250 GB drive is surely not £200 more than a 160 GB drive is it?
Does anyone know why there is such a huge price difference?
