    Hello everyone ,
I am new here .. welp i just bought a sony RDR-HX900 160 gig hard drive with dvd burner in it. It seems to work well but i dont understand when i try to burn a dvd that it will either A, not burn it correctly or B, give me a dirty disk error.

The disks that i used are TDK 8x DVD+R and Tyuden 16x DVD-R and Ritek 8x DVD-R , all have gotten this issue. I hope someone can help me correct this issue, because it might be an operator error, i am a n00b with this recorder, but the insructions have everything layed out in detail.

    please help
    thanks
    HH

Dirty Disk Error sounds like it needs hardware attention. I've never had much luck with Tyuden or Ritek - however TDK should be ok. Try Verbatim - I've used hundreds and never had a single problem.... otherwise, take it for a service I think...

You can give it a go - but my bets are still that the machine has a knackered laser... :thumbsdow

Yep - VR-Mode, unfinalised, Verbatim DVD-RW - and you'll be happy. There is some talk about the questionable shelf life of DVD-RW but if you are just using it to keep a few tv progs for a couple of years - go for it.
