Please help urgently...... Am trying to record a camcorder tape onto DVD as a Xmas present.

I`ve borrowed mate`s Sony dvd recorder and recorded disc seemingly fine (used DVD-R disc) which plays back perfectly on the Sony, but will not work at all on my Pioneer 868???

Thinking it`s probably a compatibility issue but my mate`s only ever played back on the Sony and although I`m up on the hi-fi side of electronics have not got a clue on DVD recording!

    Can anyone help ? :lease:

Was the DVD-R finalised? If it wasn't, it probably won't replay in another player.

Have you checked in the DVD-R plays in a PC? This may give you an indication if the problem lies with the DVD-R or the Pioneer player.

Try another brand of DVD-r or even a DVD-RW. The 868 should play pretty much anything.

    Thanks Laser/Mickey will retry now..

What do you have to do to finalise disc?? I`m just pressing stop Rec and it says wait a moment as i`m doing and then i`ve taken disc out.

    Am I missing something?

    Hi

If you are just pressing stop/rec then the DVD's will not be finalised. I don't have a GX3 but my next door neighbour had the same problem with his GX3 and this stopped the DVD from being read on his Bush DVD plyer (not quite a 868!).

One of the menus on the GX3 has an option to finalise a DVD. You will need to read your manual as I can't remember how I accessed the menu on his player but it was very easy. That should hopefully solve your problem and allow the Pioneer to play the DVD.

after recordng if you have finished with the disc press the tools or disc info button and the menu will have a "finalize disc option" click it then the disc will play on all.
