Have any of you seen a vertical white stripe appear briefly on screen, when changing channels on the recorder or when powering on/off?

Mine's doing this occasionaly.

I Need to establish quickly if this is a fault or not.

i have had no such white line... i would take it back to where you bought it from.

If this is only happening on changing channels or turning the machine on or off, what problem do you have with that?

It sounds like nothing more than a brief change in the output causing an odd anomaly on the TV and nothing to worry about. Having some interruption to the picture when changing channels or switching the thing off sounds pretty normal to me.

Thanks for the replies chaps.

The line is very obtrussive, and not what you would expect on Sony equipment, especially at this price.

Also, I've just noticed the unit is vibrating at certain times, which gives off quite a bit of noise - will be getting it replaced.
