    Hi,

Has anyone found a fix for the horizontal streaking / smearing issue on the Sony PX3? Or has an engineer been able to solve this at all...?

I could not try the smear fix on the sticky post (PX2 related) because there was no scan rate section in the service menu of the PX3.

    Thanks in advance

As I haven written in this thread, there is no fix:
    http://www.avforums.com/frame.html?http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164208

    Here's my text once again:

Every KP-44PX3 has it. You can read it in this review (PDF-Link):

    http://www.homecinemachoice.com/cgi...p?reviewid=4824

The last lines say about it:

    "Only two problems conspire with
    the general brightness shortage to
stop the 44PX3U walking away with a
Best Buy commendation. One is the
    tendency – especially with analogue
tuner pictures – for bright points on
the picture to send faint but noticeable
    streaky echoes across the screen.
The other is the frequently visible
presence of blanking lines in the picture,
making us wish Sony had incorporated
    an internal progressive display mode
    of some kind."

Apart from that, they give the PX3 an excellent review! But I really can't understand, why EVERY Sony-Guy says: "We never heard of this problem". I mean, they can READ about it everywhere :)

    AND:

And here's another review, where they mention the streaky echoes. Quote:

    "The other nark concerns the
way really bright sections in a picture, such
as street lights against a night sky, can send
out streaky echoes across the screen."

    Cheers,

    Thanks Zap.

I just wanted it confirmed. I spent ages trying to find anything to do with horizontal scanning in the service menu and was hoping the PX2 smear fix could be applied to the PX3.

Have you got any links to what the service menu items stand for?

    Cheers
