"Technical hitches related to the console's Blu-ray movie disc drive had forced the delay, Sony said.

Sony video games chief Ken Kutaragi said the group was still trying to finalise agreements on developing copy protection technology.

As a result the PS3's launch has been put back to November from its original Spring launch date.

The news came at a hastily-called press conference hours ahead of a Tokyo meeting where the firm is expected to unveil further details about the PS3. "

Look on Gamespot and it confirms a worldwide release of November.

That will be a Japanese release, not a worldwide one.

There's about a billions of these PS3 threads down in the PS3 forum. :smashin:

No need for more in the DVD Players forum. :)

    Apologies Azzin.

It is worth noting from the article however that copy protection re Blu-ray is being blamed for the delay. I assume that will affect more than the PS3: HD DVD players etc?

No apology needed m8, it's just that multiple threads make life hard for the Mods-I'm all for a good debate!

    Perhaps. :smashin:

i read in one of the news paper saying they have to delayed because inital cost can go up to 500pounds each unit and they guess not many people will be able to afford one.

Well waiting around a few months is not going to make it any cheaper, unless they can find ways in reducing costs in the meantime.

Was it ever in truth going to be ready for spring?? Some devs let slip last october that they would not get full SDK until june. (which is probaly why hardly any games have been seen). It was just a well played PR move to keep people on the fence so that they would not jump on the 360.
