Sony or Yamaha?

    I'm in a bit of dilemma... Am I going to pick the Yamaha RX-V557 or the Sony STR-DB790?

    Yeah, that's kinda it... The Yamaha says it has Video Upconversion from example S-Video to Component... The model below, doesn't say it has this, but has the same in and outputs...? So is there a scaler inside?

    Arh, nevermind... just saw that you couldn't get a DVD-recorder with HD from Yamaha... that kinda sucks... but I actually only need the tuner from the DVD-recorder... so... yeah, back to the question :D

    Go gor the Yamaha, it is a technically much better amplifier and video scaling is a big issue. If you can afford the extra cost opt for the RX-V657 model, which has a bunch of excellent reviews with regard to its sonic quality.
