Sony NW-HD5 - Not recharging!

Hi guys,

I've had my beloved Sony NW-HD5 for 2.5-3 years now with no problems at all.
However, recently the AC charger will now not charge the device at all. I have tested the charger with my dads voltage meter and it shows it IS outputting 6 volts as normal.
So logically you would conclude its a problem with the battery, BUT, the player DOES still recharge perfectly via the min-usb port.

Surely, after all these years there cant suddenly be a fault with the DC IN port on the player where the AC charger plugs into the unit?, because that would be the only logical explanation.

I have tried taking out the battery and replacing it several times, also tried opening out the battery contacts inside the unit a little, none of these things have made a difference.

Would really appreciate any help on this because although I can still charge the unit via my computer (usb) this process takes twice as long (6hrs) than using the AC charger.
