Wats up guy, I am brand new to this forum and plan to be pretty active here. I have a few questions if any of you guys could give me a hand on.

I just purchased Monster M500 Component Video Cable for my Sony NS75H 1080I upscaler DVD player. I plugged it into my TV (Song 40s2010 -720p tv)
however the picture only comes out as 420p. I have 1 HDMI outlet on my TV, which is being occupied by a PS3 and I dont want to use a switcher.

Yes I know that the ps3 pushes out blue ray and is an upscaler itself, but I am wondering why with the Component cable on my DVD player is only pushing out 420p. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this Cable too old?
I thought that Component Video is also comparable to HDMI.

    Thanks

    Hi

Not 100% but I think DVD players will only upscale via HDMI. I think this has something to do with copy protection.

    Cheers

I believe the NS75 to be identical to the NS76 which I have.
The NS76 indeed only upscales over the HDMI output.
BTW, the PS3 is a far better upscaling player, but the fan noise is off-putting otherwise I'd sell my NS76.
