Hi everyone,

Hopefully some kind soul can help me, assuming you aren't all too busy enjoying the sunshine :D

I'm in the process of moving house, and for the time being my TV (which was wall mounted until about 10 minutes ago) will have to go back on the stand. The trouble is, I cannot for the life of me find the screws that hold the stand to the TV, so I need to get some suitable replacements pronto.

The TV is a Sony KDL-40V2000 (a couple of years old now).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I just finish to clear up my attic and i found the old stand and the screws. They look very particolar,so i presume is better call Sony and ask, becouse i belive it will be difficoult find[i m maybe wrong].My set is the old w2000

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I don't suppose I could persuade you to part with those screws of yours? ;)

I'll give Sony a call in the week if I can't locate another source in the meantime.

More than happy to do but i m going to be in the same position of you soon[i hope]becouse my house in on the market right now:smashin:

Hi Blobster,

I am presuming this is based on some you own or have seen rather than a stab in the dark? :)

Ahh, fair enough... can't blame a guy for asking :)

Aha! Excellent work! Please could you post the link?

I would expect the chassis to be pretty similar as far as the individual screw sizes goes... off to B&Q tomorrow for me!

Hi Blobster, thanks for posting the link, top man!

I think that's referring to the screw holes in the back of the TV for a wall mount, rather than the stand that comes with it. I'll get some tomorrow anyway and see how it goes...

Thanks again!

Just called Sony's UK parts distributer... they have one set of screws showing in the system, but no information on what they are for (I expect they are for the wall mount, but we'll see).

They are making enquiries to check, and when they have confirmed the details they will write to me (not telephone or email!) to give me the pricing/availability :boring:

Any more info from people on here would be much appreciated!

Found them! Blobster you were right, M5x16mm, with the addition of a spring washer and a flat washer each.

When I got back to Sony, they were going to charge £26! I think they have modified the design slightly to a more specialised design (a neighbour has a W series) which makes for easier use. the ones that came with my TV are just plain old machine screws.

Anyway, despite my earlier grumblings, the Sony parts supplier was actually very helpful... and the lady on the phone sounded genuinely embarrassed by the price on her screen!

Blobster originally said M6 x 16mm ?

Screwfix don't seem to offer M5 x 16mm, but 20mm are around 6p/each, though need to get 50 for £2.99 Quote No: 14216
"A2 Stainless Steel Socket Cap Screws M5 x 20mm Pack of 50"

whereas M6 x 16mm seems a common size there
eg "Socket Cap Screws M6 x 16mm AF Key 5 Pack of 50 "

On a 40v3000 the stand screws are just retaining the stand in situ and not carrying any weight/stress. Presume slightly too short is preferable to too long (if one didnt know the correct length) as MAY have been poorly designed to have components behind the screws (though a very basic design error if so).
