I recently saw an excellent picture via SONY 32 V SERIES BRAVIA LCD whilst i was in Sydney Australia on holiday .
I noted the contrast of 500 and BRILLIANCE of 1300 and response time of 8 ms

On returning home i looked at the SONY UK Website ( yes i know different countries different specs) and could not find this info so i contacted their customer services via phone and after consulting his boss the "helper" told me the figures of 480 , 1000, and same 8 ms.... he was puzzled why i wanted this info............ My reply was not to be printed...
Interesting eh the difference in brilliance figures ? Any comments ?
Any teckies wish to comment on SONY uk specs in the new V series Bravia range ? And what info on the spec sheet i should be taking notice of ,apart from the above mentioned ?
At their RRP of £1799 everything should be perfect or am i living on a different planet to everyone else ?
Understand lcd tv sold in uk are assembled in Barcelona ,and i guess the higher Aus spec is assembled in Japan ?
Last but not least ... anyone seen a better picture with other manufacturer... i still have my mind to make up ?
    Cheers ... k

Call me a conspiracy theorist but I wouldn't be surprised if the specs are "helped along" a little to meet or exceed competitors in local markets. I heard on the AVF Podcast today that Samsung are quoting what was it, 5000:1 on a new TV? Manufacturers seem to pull these figures out of hats and it sounds like the doctoring is done differently for different regions and you've caught them out.

    That's just speculation though.
