STR-DN1030 also features audio calibration technology

Sony has just sent word on their new STR-DN1030 AV Receiver, said to be capable of delivering 7.2 channels at 120 watts per channel. Sony says it’s the ever AV receiver to feature built-in wireless connectivity. There’s also five HDMI ports, HD Digital Cinema Sound and Advanced Digital Cinema Auto Calibration technologies on board.

“We designed the STR-DN1030 so you can hear movies exactly as the director intended” explains Jimmi Nolan, AV Receiver Product Marketing Manager at Sony UK. “To create true cinematic audio, the STR-DN1030 uses HD Digital Cinema Sound, a specialised technology developed by our Sony Pictures team from careful study of Hollywood sound stage recordings. Sony Pictures have won 12 Academy Awards for Best Picture, so they know about creating amazing quality sound for the movies.”

The built-in wireless connectivity allows streaming of music from PC and iPhone, iPod or iPad with built-in AirPlay. There’s also access to the Sony Entertainment Network, featuring more than 15million songs, and internet radio from thousands of stations around the world.

As well as being to calibrate audio, using Advanced Digital Cinema Auto Calibration there’s also a range of acoustic modes, from Jazz Club to Sport. There’s, apparently, even a mode that re-creates the dynamics of the Berliner Philharmonic concert hall and it all can be controlled via the Sony Media Remote app so you can use your smartphone or tablet as a remote control.
