They have a group of blind people doing the research. They could not see any difference with the angle nor they could see a delay on the response of the TV when receiving commands from the remote. They did not see the 3D effect either.

They could hear that the audio was missing during reboots but obviously that was due to problems during broadcasting and the market research was completed.

I just raised the back of my ZD9 and it's now 100% straight up.

As long as you are not pulling on the tv topside it will not topple over.

It also has a positive effect on picture quality but that can also just be my imagination.

The PQ of the ZD9 is just awesome so I expect great things of the Oled.

Sony really do know how to not go about releasing products don't they?? Almost a whiff of elitism about everything they do ...

So ladies and gentlement of the press - here are our new products for the UK in 2017.
When will they be released then?? The spring (probably).
So how much will they cost?? Erm we can't possibly give that sort of info at an official launch.
How about some technical details beyond the spec sheet then?? We don't divulge those sort of details it is all a big mystery as to what you are buying ... sorry.

Maybe, just maybe if they were a bit more transparent and up front they would fare a lot better than they are ... just a thought!!

"See the light on your ceiling reflecting off your TV? What if we angled the TV back more so now it can be even more annoying!"

Since Sony is the world's largest consumer electronics corporation and high up the Forbes 500 they don't seem to be faring too badly :D

I'm just glad they've jumped on the OLED band wagon in 2017.

Guess all the manufacturers are waiting for each other to break cover before revealing key aspects such as price.

I will add that I had an 55" HX853 for a little over 3 years which was also angled back like the OLED, and I was really concerned how it would be and was planning on lifting the back to make it straight, but after watching the TV for a day or so, I can safely say it did not detract from the viewing experience 1 iota. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of owning that TV, so the lean of the TV isn't really an issue in my experience.

Can you please elaborate. I am still not convinced that the tilt will not Annoy me. The Sony oled and pana dx9 have this weird inclination
You didn't suffer at all from the angle? Or you got used to it?
Unlike many, I watch my TV from a a very low position aka floor level with a gigantic cushion for both...my eyes will probably be at the same level of the TV stand. That's unusual but me and my young son love it...inclination could be damaging

My TV stand is about the same height as my sofa, and I never even noticed the recline after a day or so. Like I said, I was planning on putting something under the back to make it sit straight, but soon realised it simply wasn't needed.
I guess if you sit very low then it might be worse, but I would imagine it's easy to prop up the rear support to make the TV sit more upright?

I will wait for reviews. The oled could be on a stand but believe there is a negative impact on sound.
Most probable oled will be out of my means anyway and will probably end up with 55xe93 for now or an oled c6. Happy either way. Thank you for input

The 55XE93 is on my shortlist and will be interested if you take the plunge first.

Oled are special but this little baby led interest me highly. if I ignore the silly rpp at launch, I have high hopes for getting it at a half descent price for a TV. The 55xd93 is at £1200 right now so a long way to go from the expected and ridiculously high £2400 rpp for 55xe93

The x1 extreme processor, 64 zones and higher brightness plus all HDR options are very hard to resist. All I need is confirmation it will be hdmi 2.1 upgradable for a slam dunk. Time will tell.

Of course sony oled will interest me but price and design play against it big time right now. reviews will help the decision process but a big part of me is tempted to invest xe93 and come back to the race in 2020/22 for whatever is best then. I will bet my shirt, probably not oled anymore.

A backward tilt is a deal breaker for me. Room layout precludes wall mounting, so Sony will have to count me out on this one.

Why they didn't mention prices, I mean it's an "official" UK launch after all, I don't understand.

If the prices on Sony's austrian site are correct, though, I'll probably pick up the 55XE90 if it has a VA panel. VA + FALD, and Sony usually does FALD very well, for 2k € sounds fair. The A1 will probably be 4k € after all, if the 55XE93 is close to 3k. And I don't see Sony charging way less for their first OLED than LG will be for their B7.

Is there a chance the XE90 will also get Dolby Vision support later on, too, or will this only be on the XE93 and up?

According to Steve on the podcast today, all their models which have android will get Dolby Vision and HLG this year.

Outrageously expensive from what I've gathered so far. Preorder on Samsung's US website is up and they want 2500$ for the 55 inch Q7. That means at least 2500€. :thumbsdow

That would be great. So far it sounded like only the XE93/94, ZD9 and A1 get an update with DV.

Yes I'm expecting around 25% price increase on Samsung across the board this year. No bother though, I'll be getting a Sony.

      Hi

-first of all w'v to know exactly the matrice type;VA/IPS!
for me IPS just ignore it!

-again Sony marketing-tool! just look at the models/series with a few "plays" they supply lot of series!
I hate those kind marketing plays, their aim is just confuses our mind and they sold one of TV to us

-therefore prices still very high too so to wait quite bit

the future is "OLED"(or another type a new tech panels) not 4/8/18/or 24K!!!
TFT-LCD "dead tech" so do not worth to invest mad prices!

      -Sony OLED;well sounds is good

      bye++

With the promise of Chinese made OLED panels possibly coming in 2018 I wonder if the current reliance on LG produced ones will move other manufacturers to install an inevitably much cheaper component. The days of this currently over-priced technology could be numbered and a more realistic price point could come onto the market.

That is if the panel has a life span similar to LG's
