I did notice this model listed on the Sony web site at £2400 about a week ago but it got taken down again pretty quickly.

Steve's reviews and prices will be key in my purchasing decision.

I don't think they are supporting 3D on any of the 2017 models, pretty much like all other manufactures which is unfortunate.

      Thanks for feedback
I am pretty sure they are thinking about their pricing strategy. They are going to milk it until the oled arrives and then we will see a super fall...I bet money on it

What is different this year is oled onslaught and they will all be watching what lg pricing will be.

I expect the 55xe93 to stabilise at £1750 by July. Anything above or around £2k and they are all sending us running in the hands of oled. Pricing going to be key indeed...

The abandonment of 3D is covered elsewhere on AVForums with multiple " heated " discussions. Brexit seems quite tame compared to the passion expressed by a number of 3D fans.

I see there's no mention of CPUs which makes it seem like Sony are going for the minimum possible again.

I believe so. To be honest, no need to ask nits for oled this year as they are all the same 2017 lg crop. 1000 max in vivid mode and 800 proper ones. We don't know on what percentage screen yet I guess (guessing usual 10 percent)

      Interesting move from Sony indeed
The xe90 is missing Dolby vision and hlg only plus obviously the x1 extreme chip

Interesting model but not sure I want to loose the x1 extreme capabilities in term of pq (upscaling, dual database, 40 percent faster processing,...), hdr performance and future upgrade.

Who do Sony use for their Market Research? I am curious to know as to who the flip thinks that having your TV screen reclined at an angle away from you is a good idea?

Were these the same Market Research people who told them that nobody would notice if the TV's response time to a button press on the remote control was measured in seconds (if not minutes), or that dropping 3D support would increase sales or rebooting your Android TV on a daily basis (preferably in the middle of a live programme) would be a selling point o_O

      None of Sony's 2017 sets support 3D I'm afraid.

Sony wouldn't say but since it's a 2017 LG panel, that probably means a maximum of 1,000nits in some sort of inaccurate vivid mode.

I totally agree, personally I think the incline is really for the same reason as on the Panasonic DX902 – so that it doesn't topple over!

I have been told that the new 2017 models will start arriving in April and prices will be same as last year plus the drop in value of the £. best price as usual will be from Costco but they will get their stock a few months later than usual retailers.

Funnily enough it may of been designed just for me in mind ;). It may actually suit my viewing conditions spot on . Being space limited on a low AV unit 6ft from my main viewing position my JS9000 actually has a slight upward tilt on its stand. With the Sony minimal design ( that will sit lower with more of an upward tilt ) I just may be able to upgrade from my current 55" to the 65" of this.

      Bring on the review .

Or to hide some sort of uniformity issue.
