Sony Laptop Replacement Battery Problem

Standard Member
I have just received a replacement battery for my Sony A617S laptop. It is not a genuine replacement part and the following occurs:- A box appears with the following message.
The installed battery may not be properly connected to the computer or may not be compatible with the computer.
Click Ok to enter hibernate mode and remove and reinsert battery.
See the electronic VAIO (R) user guide for more information about using the battery."

It should be noted that this box only pops up when I start using the internet (may be co-incidental) and the charging light flashes rapidly. When off/hibernate, the charging light flashes correctly and charges the battery.

Any advice appreciated.

Regards... Andrew.

Hi, this is the answer I received and the computer works fine now. Incidently, the replacement battery is a more powerful one.

Start -> type into the run box 'MSCONFIG' and OK.

Click on the STARTUP Tab and look at the programs that run at boot. If you can find ISBMgr then uncheck the box to the left -> Apply -> OK and restart your computer.

Let me know if it works for you.

Regards... Andy.
