I am looking to buy this TV from John Lewis but they do not internet price match. Does anyone know if there is somewhere which are doing really good deals on this model (which have walk in stores).

    Any help would be appreciated.

Krishav in Hammersmith have a walk in store.

JL Kingston pricematched to them for me on my 32FX66. (Price matched to £960 (inc Stand and Delivery) + I got £150 off any DVD player in store (Before 24th Dec)

    Very nice TV :D

    TommyP,

So are you saying I would walk into KrishAV and purchase one for £960. John lewis are very strick on not internet price matching. If this is the case please can you supply the telephone number.

P.S If anyone is interested I think there is a error on www.powerhouse.co.uk. You can buy a KV32FX66 for £899. If I did not have to buy from John Lewis I would be trying my look with what seems to be a dodgy internet price.

Yep - I'm saying you could walk into KrishAV and buy one for actually under £960 as I originaly got a deal with Krish for the TV which got the stand for £50 so the total cost would of been £799 (TV) + £50 (Stand) + £40 (Del) = £889 but JL offer a free 5yr garentee on all TVs so I thought that was worth a few quid so spent a little more for what i hope is superior customer support.

Ring your local JL store because I don't recon the Kingston store will deliver that far up north!

Each store has a dept that deal with Undersales as ring them and see what you can get - good luck.

and so therefore £899 is not actually a dodgy internet price you can pick em up for under that.

Went into JL Oxford Street yesterday to get a pricematch on the 32FX66 but no one knew anything about this £150 off. I've also seen this mentioned in a couple of other threads and would obviously love to take advantage of the offer.

Is it just for JL Kingston then because I didn't seen any info on it in JL Sloane Square either? Any info you've got would be great.

    Cheers

tbh it looked just like a JL Kingston offer as the only two people that have used it (myself and 'Theborg') brought from that one store.

Looks like your going to have to take a trip to SW London :D

Read my post in "KV32FX66 SAGA" , I purchased a sony 28fx66 tv from JL OXFORD ST and got £150 discount off a sony dvd player. The deal wasn't restricted to sonys, I believe discounts were also offered for Toshibas and Panasonics. You could only get a discount for purchasing same brand products though, so a sony dvd was only discounted if bought with a sony tv. JL Oxford St floor staff are not keen to publicise this discount, so I'll bypass them and go directly to the Customer Services Manager if I were you.

Let us know how you get on and good luck.

Been into the JL Sheffield store today & got them to pricematch for £889.00 inc Stand and delivery. Delivery date 30th Dec.

    Thats based on the TV £799 + Stand £50 + Del £40.

I forgot all about the £150 off DVD offer though in my exitement. Do you think it's worth giving them a call?

Just need some decent scarts now.

Further to my post above: At work today & got a little bored so thought I would give JL Sheffield a call to check out the offer of £150 off a DVD.

Spoke to a very helpful lady who said she would look into for me.
She just called me back to confirm that I can have the Sony DVPNS305 which they sell for £148 free of charge, they will deliver with the telly.

    RESULT!!

    HI,

I have the 405 DVD player with this TV and you will be well impressed with the output.

The 305 is a good unit and for free you have had a bargain.

Invest in a Decent RGB scart lead, well worth the extra cost!!!

    Cheers

    Dal

Great TV had the pixel+ Philips before and it was **** very pleased with the Sony. I knew I should of bought Sony in the first place but I liked the look of the philips and fancied something different ...............big mistake..... as for Scarts I bought Monster video 2 leads @ 40quid a thro' and they are fantastic do not under estimate the importance of decent conections I did and bought a £20 philips lead it fell to bits after a fortnight!:D

Hi, I have a Sony KV28FX65 and I realize how buggy it is, and that the 66 version is pretty similar to the 65, but with a few fixes and one or two new features.

Can anyone point me to reviews or forum threads doing a comparison of the two systems?

I call them bugs because I know they've been fixed in the 66.
Just a warning that some of them are what I consider "annoyances" rather than real software bugs.

    -teletext mix customised settings/widescreen

When Teletext is in mix mode all personal preferences do not show, e.g. colour, contrast, softness, etc..

    -teletext black flash

There is a black flash lasting about half a second between modes in teletext, i.e. Text/Mix/TV

    -slow response to remote

It takes about a quarter of a second before anything happens.
(I can't remember if this was still there in the 66)

    -AV switching slow

It takes a while to scroll through the AV channels

    -sky button switch none

If you have a Sky Digibox, the SKY button on the Sky remote should take you to the AV channel as well. This does not happen. I'm not sure if this problem is still on the 66, or if it's a Sony thing.

    -slow widescreen switch

It takes a while before the TV knows that it should be in 16:9 mode (half a second) and much longer when switching back to 4:3
(varies between 3 and 20 secs)

    -overscanning
can't comment on 66 model, but 65 has slight overscanning.

    -two wires
Apparently existing in all "Trinitron" tubes, these two lines can be seen quite easily across the face of the screen. I did not find these on the 66.
