Just bought this TV and in general am very impressed. However, one thing is bugging me a bit, the geometry in Smart Mode. For example, where programme credits scroll horizontally, there seems to be a weird effect where the text expands and contracts as it moves across the screen, as if the screen was very concave. This doesn't happen in other modes.

Not having had a widescreen TV before I don't know whether this is normal or a fault?

Smart mode stretches a 4:3 image to fill a 16:9 screen, but it leaves the central portion of the image (where most action is likely to occur) unaltered with progressively more stretch at the sides.
Personally I like to watch in whatever format the programme was made, black bands or not.
