Anyone out there help, I've got a Sony KP61 only problem is that in 16:9 mode I get distinct bands of colour from the three tubes at the top of the 16:9 image. can anyone suggest a way of getting rid of these lines also anyone know how to manually align the CRTs via the service menu.

    Thanks.

I have the KP41DS1U and have recently had it modified bu Sony to allow correct NTSC playback in RGB.
It doesn't sound like you have the same problem as 41DS1 users, but feel free to elaborate later, if you feel you do.
To access the service menu on my model and several others, do the following.

    Put TV in StandBy
    Press 'i'
    Press '5'
    Press 'Vol +'
    Press Screen Button or TV

Then press Menu and go to convergence.
The main ones you'll need to tweak are:
R,G,B H&V Skew to rotate the misaligned guns.
R,G,B H&V Center to match up with each other.
R,G,B H&V Size to match up with each other

To save changes and exit service mode, press '00.

    AND BE CAREFUL!

Gave it a try, I was able to access the service menu, however the service menu didn't have the suggested options within the various menus.
