Sony KLV-40X2000 HDMI no picture/audio

Recently there was a power cut in my house and when I turned my telly on there was no picture/audio (from my set top box), just a black screen.

I switched the hdmi cable to the other HDMI slot on the television and it now works fine. (i.e. my set top box was not at fault)

Does this mean the first HDMI socket has gone kaput?

is there a way to recalibrate the signal in that socket or something? I have tried attaching another dvd player to the original/first HDMI socket with another HDMI cable to test but it still gives a black screen.

So much for Belkin Surge Protectors

Holding out for some DIY advice before I call the Sony people in :lease:
