I am considering buying one of the above 32" Plasma's and was interested to hear anybodys opinion on them good or bad.

They are both available for about the same amount ie £1650 and this is the very max of my budget.

It is to be used as a main TV, to watch Sky+ and DVD's

    Thank you for your help.

Hello Sarah and welcome to the forums. These plasmas use ALiS screens which are not universally popular here to say the least (suggest you do a search for ALiS). The Sony is also thought to be poor value for money, though the price you're quoting looks good to me. However, I have the identical model Sony and am very pleased with its picture quality, convenience and appearance. Can't comment on Sky+ as I watch Freeview.

    Hi Sarah,

    Welcome to the forums!

I have the Sony KE32-TS2, and it is superb. I have no regrets about choosing this plasma. And it will take an HD signal in due course!

Have a look at the 'get your sony's out' thread to see what I did with mine.

As with all things plasma / LCD. It's almost purely down to your own preference. The quality of the sony display is great, I have mine hooked up to VCR, DVD, Sky, Xbox, PS2, and PC.

There are quite a few threads about the Hitachi plasmas having 'issues' with buzzing and clouding, but I don't have any experience of them to give you a fully balanced view.

Good luck with your choice! :smashin:

Bernard, please post some pictures of your set-up! Glad to hear that you are pleased with it too!

I too have the Sony, and the picture when hooked up to a component Progressive scan DVD is great. I have recently had a fault with mine where a line of pixels died, i rang sony and within a few days i had a Loan screen, same model, whilst the other was being repaired, and this afternoon i will have my baby back. I have mine hooked upto NTL and the picture is fine, not brillaint but hey thats NTL for you. All my consoles look fab through it too.

I think I am going to go with the Sony, I looked at the 2 Plasma's next to each other and the Sony looked a better product.

Thank you for you input guys.

Just thinking about connections would it be best to connect Sky+ via RGB Scart and my DVD via Component (progressive)?

    Hi,
I have the Sony here in Australia, and it is hooked up to a HD Box..and the picture is "Breathtaking" in 1080i
I have Foxtel hooked up via scart rgb, and when you get a decent quality program, the picture is excellent.
I also have the DVD giving a progressive output... and the picture is
    "excellent" and very very smooth.

The Sony KE32 is very pleasing to the eye too.

    I highly reccomend it.

Good Luck to you from Downunder land

    Cheers
