    Hi,

    Please could you help me?.
I was all ready to order a panny 42pwd7 from avsales on monday but was in my local shop today and saw a sony p42m1 which looked not a bad plasma.I've looked about and can get this tv for about £1900.This seems alot of television for the money but is it any good,I don't seem to be able to find any reviews on it.Also how long has it been out?.
Any advice would be most welcome

    Thanks in advance

    Richard.

Think they're different models: The MR1 is the old version of the MRX1 and suffers from colour banding. It looks lovely but I think you may be disappointed with one.

I think I will stick with the panasonic!.
Last questions!!.Is it best to connect sky using a scart input board or getting a scart to vga converter and connecting it that way?.Is the quality significantly better?.
Also I will be sitting approx 4 metres form the plasma, would a 42" screen be watchable from that distance(Is it to close?.) or would a 37" do.

Sorry for all these questions (I really want to get one of these ordered tomorrow)

    Thanks for any advice

    Richard.

your distance will be fine for a 42" I have a panny pw7 and I've connected sky via a sync blaster (scart to vga) and also via my e55 dvd recorder to component and pq is pretty much the same....but if you go via vga you lose colour control, the theory being you don't need it but I reckon it's nice to have it for some of the sky output.
