My brother has just purchased a Sony KE-P42M1 plasma TV, £2199 from JL which seemed a good deal (inc a free DVD recorder)

He has an NTL cable box connected via RGB and the picture is appalling, lots of blocking, bluring should this occur? I always imagined that NTL cable was far higher quality than SKY?

Also most noticable on facial flesh tones are colour banding\shading (similar effect to viewing a hi-res JPG on a non hi-res resolution in windows). It is even visible via the component input from his Sony DVD recorder.

Is this something peculiar to plasmas, I have a 50" CRT rear projection and although the picture isn't as sharp it doesn't suffer noticably from either.

Very few people has discussed this model, should it have been avoided?
 The only review I read gave it 91.5\100 which seems very good???

Any guidance would be greatly received...

Hi Steve,
I bought one of these a few weeks ago and have no problems at all with the picture quality, I think it is excellent, although my sky feed is from a dish not via cable. I asked about it here after ordering it, but got no replies either.
