    hi,

ive just bought one of these and being a bit of a newbie need some advice.

firstly i'd like to be able to connect up:

    ps3 - optical
    xbox - scart
    sony mhc hifi - optical/co-ax

ive also looked at the sony rth-g1000 but apart from saving on cable mess is this any good, i heard the lower model today which was poor.

would a separate tv stand with separate amp feeding all these devices be best and buy a cinema unit also?

    thanks

if your budget will stretch then have a look around for an amp, i'll be buying the sony str-dg910. you don't need to output the audio from ps3 or xbox via optical to the tv - it's not worth it unless you're using an amp, the ps3 can output 5.1 surround sound over the hdmi fyi.

you should hook up the ps3 with an hdmi cable or component.. hdmi preferable

the xbox should be hooked up via component unless you've got an elite and then use an hdmi cable.
