hi all
just a quick question about this Sony 40inch lcd tv
as this was £1300 a while back
its now down to £699
but is it any good
so has anybody owned this for a while
what are your thoughts.
Re picture quality (esp with football)
and any bad points at all
cheers

do a search on our forum and you'll find lots of info:):smashin:

yes i done a search
but no real info from owners
basically people about to buy this set
like me ;)

yes, main tv in house, paid £999 but should have waited and got a better spec model w or v etc, nice design though (the missus wanted a silver/grey one). Good but not the best, depends how picky you are on pq.

Thanks for that nfccp
can you tell me what the pic quality is like
using either the inbuilt freeview
or standard sky
as this tv will not be using sky hd
cheers

Dont know about freeview as not set up, i am using sky sd it is a good picture sound is good too, my trouble is i know there are better panels out there, xbox 360 is excellent through it !! Depends how much you've got to spend to be fair, if you can afford a bit more get a better spec one if not this is ideal.

as this is for my sister
who has no interest in sky hd /hd gaming
she has a standard sky + box
various reports say standard def looks bad on hd lcd ?
but if you say sd sky looks good
does that include fast moving pics
football etc
thanks again

Watch a lot of football and it it looks good when broadcast on sky sports, if on itv picture quality not as good for some reason, but overall excellent no blurring at all. For the price it seems a good deal to me.

I have this TV, I was able to get one for £600 a few months back, for the money (at the time) it was a great buy. You can get better TVs for the same price now. If I could return it and get a refund I probably would and get a different one. Its great for 360 & HD DVD movies, the SD TV quality on freeview is variable to say the least.

the sis has a thing about brands
has to be sony/tosh/panny/
she will not look at samsung/lg. etc
so at £699 for a sony
seems a good deal
will only watch thro sky+
and dvds
so quality will be good using that ?
( her present tv is a 21inch sony !!, so she should be impressed with it )
cheers all
