More boringly, the Sony website says "Televisions advertised in the UK with a U suffix are the same as those without, the U simply indicates a UK specification model."

Thanks, now all we have to do is wait until the UK VAT goes down (Before xmas perhaps)?

Nope, also has cable tv input no use in the UK though. Bought it from J.L with 5 year guarantee, very pleased with it...
