    Good Morning Everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster, so please go easy on me :)

I have just treated myself to a Sony KDL-40V4000, which i bought from M&S, i have only had the TV set up for a week but noticed a white spot in the middle of the screen last night, obviously more apperent when the screen is dark.

My quandry is what to i do? I have just rang M&S to be told that its not a fault and a replacement cannot be sent out, before i speak to Sony, has anyone had any experience of this? Is there any chance i can get it replaced or should more dead pixels suddenly appear / other faults appear ;)

    Any thoughts would be appreciated

    Hi

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you have a 'stuck' pixel or pixels. It could clear after some time or it might not!

IMO wait a few days and if it does not clear contact Sony and ask for their advice.

Should further stuck pixels appear then you have a stronger case for replacement.

    Hi,
That is so unlucky and, unfortunately, one stuck or dead pixel isn't recognised as a fault. There was, however,a Forum member who managed to get a replacement,I think via Comet, after speaking with the manufacturer.

I remember reading in What Video some time ago, that GENTLE massage of the spot on the screen using the screen cleaning cloth supplied, COULD release the pixel if its stuck. If its dead, then your out of luck.
I have no experience of this and its purely at your own risk.

    I would speak to Sony

    Good Luck

your set is only 1 week old? return it immediately to M&S and demand a swap out. Be stern - you paid good money for this set and a dead pixel is classified as a panel defect

Stuck pixels appear as either red, green or blue and dont change

    Dead pixels are white

The general rule of thumb, according to What Video,is that any panel with more than two lit or unlit pixels per million is legally faulty and should be replaced by its manufacturer.

A spin round Google though, suggests that Sony apply a policy per model hence my advice to speak to Sony.

If you've had the TV less than 7 working days you can return it under the distance selling regs - this will be less hassle than getting it returned as faulty.
