sony KDL-40V2000 VS philips 37PF9631D/10



Looking to get opinions on these two sets. Any help appreciated.

The BRAVIA is a great set, not perfect, but then nothing is. It's possibly the best LCD out in the UK right now though, in my opinion, with a huge number of image-tweaking options so you can get things set up the way you like it. I haven't got experience with that particular Philips TV, but I did have a 37PF9830, and thought it was terrible, with image-destroying processing, buggy software, and no proper backlight adjustment. (essential on any LCD)

The 9830 has had around 15 firmware updates now, I believe, which just goes to show how "good" a product it was when they first shipped it if they've had to fix that many problems. I don't think I'd buy Philips again, and I'd say a significant number of Philips owners here would agree, especially anyone who has dealt with their customer support.
