Sony KDL-40EX broadband connection problem

Having difficulty in Sony KDL-40EX503 network connection.

Broadband from a fibre connection, and WiFi router and ethernet network both available, both options OK with other devices.

Trying two ways of connecting:

1) WiFi - message is Not Found - Insert compatible device into USB port. What is a compatible device?

2) Wired Connection - fed direct from router with ethernet cable via USB 2.0 to Fast Internet connector to USB port on the TV. Failed.

I have a Firestick feeding an HDMI socket, which I assume is giving me Netflix, iPlayer, Amazon etc. Am I gaining anything by persisting with either (1) or (2)?

Stick with the Firestick. The TV is pretty old by today's standards and software updates may no longer be available.

Thanks, JayCee. Not sure about software, but firmware isn't available any more.

Dumb question, apologies, but how is the Firestick fed? From WiFi?

Yes, your Firestick can only work if it's connected to a router usually via WiFi.
