    Hi All,
After couple of sleepless nights and lots of investigation, these are the two options for me. But still can't decide which one is the winner.
They're both in my price range.
Sony one is 100Mhz and 24p.
Samsung is Full HD but there're some problems with its firmware and movie plus mode doesn't work so well.

100Mhz versus Full HD. What do you say?

I'll mainly use it with skyplus, DVD player, and may be in the future with PS3.
Watching football match is as important as watching film for me.

    Thanks

    100hz ;)

I've got my 40D3000 yesterday, and I am more than happy with my purchase. If you are into DVB-T stuff and DVD's you simply can't go wrong with D3000 - just be sure to play with the settings once you get the telly (whatever telly that might be).

HD stuff (at least what I've had a chance to see) looks spectacular.

So here you go, one happy camper with a D3000

Good luck in your search! I know about those sleepless nights, had those not too long ago ;) Cheers.

If you're going to keep on saying "Sony are better than.." please back it up with something more, ideally in a proper HT or in your darkened HT, each setup with Avia/DVE.

Well I have compared them side by side on the shop.So observations
    HD
The Samsung had a stunning picture and was one of the best tv's
    SD
I asked the sales man to change input if he could put any SD.He changed it first into analogue. Then the sony was better for sure. Also he put and a DVD sd.Again the sony was better.
    Football
The big advantage of the 100Hz is clearly visible on football

So overally the HD was better on the samsung, but the SD was beter on the sony.

Also dont forget the gloss that sometimes has reflections

So your constant approval of Sony is unwarranted, you didn't view them in a standard room nor spend time adjusting over a weekend.

I certainly wouldn't do what you're doing (constantly saying that X is better than Y) by a visit to Comet/Dixons/Curries. Of course you just happen to be a Sony fanboy.

At least I had the Sharp XD1 in my own room for a month, although it was months apart from the Samsung.

Firstly here we have only dixons and electroworld which belongs to dixons. But I know that there is not an appropriate viewing environment so I went somewhere else where I had the ability to make comparisons better. And why you say I am sony fanboy?I have many times suggested and other things. But we should accept some things.I dont know how it really looks in the home, but I wanted to write my opinion. And as I said the samsung advantage in HD and the blacks was for sure clearly visible.

I have no experience of the Sony, but I do own the Sammy le40M86, and I love it now!

Had a few teething probs, but now with updated firmware etc I love it.
As for movie mode, I just turn it off!
SD looks gr8, HD looks fantastic, PS3 amazing.

The screen is glossy, but no where near a problem like you would think in a shop environment! Once home, the colours look great, deffo a plus for this TV.
