Hi guys i have purchased the Sony for the end of the month at my local shop and now i will be needing a good upscaling dvd player and a surround sound kit.

The dvd player they had was a Sharp DVSV97H

Surround Kit was a Panasonic SCHT990

I just noticed that the panasonic has no optical output , so if i when i get sky HD will i get true surround sound as i was reading in the forums that i wouldn't ?

    Any advice welcome guys.

If it doesn't have an optical input, then it won't do DD 5.1 via Sky HD

    Isn't the SCHT900 a combined surround amp/speakers + DVD player?

Either way, the above post is correct - it doesn't have either an optical or a coaxial digital audio input, so if it does support the connection of external sources you'll be limited to Dolby Pro-Logic rather than Dolby Digital (although Dolby Digital from the internal DVD player).

What all-in-one system would you guys recommend that would best suit for this tv.

    Everything needs to be 5.1DD

    Connected up will be
    1. xbox 360
    2. Sky HD
    3. All-in-one System

    Buget of £500

When you say "all-in-one" do you mean a surround sound package including speakers etc., or do you mean the same but with integrated DVD too?

I've no experience of either, I'm afraid, but in the first case you might be better posting here instead. It's worth saying that at a £500 budget then you might do better looking for a dedicated home cinema amp and a speaker package.
