ive been reading the current post on here about this set as im interested in purchasing one. My local cash and carry store has these sets for £1000 with the stand and they look very good for the money but i was looking for some stats on google and it says these units weigh 175kg each

is this true?? as well as crashing right through the glass stand it would go through my floor too. Surley this cant be right. A TV that weighs 28stone and that was made in the 21st century

also, will i be able to play the new XBOX 360 in High def. on this TV or does it just mean it can decode a HD source and downscale to the normal resulution (sorry if that sounds dumb, i dont know much about this technology)

Cash and carry has done well, even Sony Centre stores are struggling for stock.

My local Sony Centre is asking full list price off £1399 but will give 3 years warranty and 12 months interest free credit.

dont forget you have to add the vat to cash and carry prices at 17.5% which akes it up to £1174.98 but as lee says sony are giving you 3 year warrenty and 12months interest free and free delivery.

I'd audition this set carefully with a wide range of material. I've just recently seen a second one of these in operation and was left with the same impressions as the first time:

1) Immediately obvious you are watching a rear-pro image - not the case with a good quality DLP.

2) Visible picture artefacts on DVD and broadcast sources.

3) Colour saturation and black levels nowhere near as good as the best DLP can offer.

Definitely the best LCD rear pro I have seen, but noticeably lagging behind the main DLP contenders from Samsung and Sagem.

was passing by the sony shop and was watching dvd on it
pq was ok but it was through scart and not progessive and no tv pix yet as there where just in store
set looks ok and has all needed connections and for about 500 quid less than sagem and samsung
might just buy one but wait till i can see it a little more
